Faro airport is also known as Algarve airport and is a busy international airport, especially during the summer months due to the popularity of the area with tourists. The airport has undergone extensive expansion and development over recent years in order to help in cope with the increase in passenger numbers.

In addition to flights with Ryan Air, Aer Lingus also provide flights to and from Dublin. With seasonal flights available from the cities of Cork, Shannon and Belfast-City. Easy Jet and Thomson Airways provides flights from Belfast International. The relatively short flight time and warm climate of Faro attract visitors from Ireland year on year.
